Curbs should be a minimum of eight inches above the finished roof and factory insulated to reduce condensation. Curb installation should be a part of the roof deck not on top of insulation or roofing materials. Metal roof curb installation instructions have further questions. Bring field supplied roofing felt up to the top of the curb nailing strips. Supplied by others 3. This way the upslope edge is much more protected and less likely to leak using the same shingled condition occurring on the downslope side all creating a properly water shedding weathertight condition. Nail felt into place. Secure the curb to the roof support members. Install any support framing necessary at this time. Divert runoff and roof drainage around the curb.

Pressure treated nailers should be provided by the curb manufacturer to receive roofing felts and eliminate noise transfer. Opening length curb inside dimension 10 2. Remove any twist within the cu rb due to roof supports and square the curb. A large variety of roof curbs are available as standard accessories but curbs can also be custom made for a particular installation.

Instead it is well worth taking a few extra minutes to install an under over curb which places the upslope side under the roofing in a true shingled lap between the curb and the roof. We are here to help.
